Dr. Carl Bryce
Specialist in providing psychological care for people living with physical health conditions
Health Psychologist, DHealthPsych, MSc, BSc, CPsychol
Welcome to My Health Psychology Practice
Managing a long-term health condition can be overwhelming, both physically and emotionally. At my practice, I specialise in providing compassionate psychological support to help you navigate the challenges that come with chronic illness, pain, and other long-term health conditions. My goal is to empower you to live a fulfilling life, despite the obstacles you may face.
In addition to my private practice, I work within the NHS at Salford Royal Hospital in Greater Manchester, where I’m part of the Clinical Health Psychology Department. Here, I run clinics dedicated to helping patients manage the psychological impact of long-term health conditions. My approach is rooted in evidence-based therapies, tailored to meet your unique needs. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or adjusting to a new diagnosis, I’m here to help you build resilience and find hope.
Why Psychological Support Matters in Physical Health
Living with a long-term health condition can significantly impact your mental health. Constant pain, uncertainty, and lifestyle changes can lead to anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation. Psychological support is a crucial part of your overall healthcare plan, offering tools to manage emotions, build resilience, and maintain control over your life.
At my practice, I believe that true healing involves addressing the mind-body connection. My therapeutic approach is holistic, focusing not just on symptoms but on your overall well-being.
My methods
I employ a diverse range of psychological methods and strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient, all grounded in evidence-based practices. Below are some of the primary therapeutic approaches I integrate into my work.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
(CBT)
A structured, time-limited approach focused on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
(ACT)
Focuses on accepting difficult emotions and thoughts while committing to actions that align with personal values.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
(TF-CBT)
A specialised form of CBT that helps individuals process and overcome the impact of traumatic experiences.
Rationale Emotive Behavioural Therapy
(REBT)
A form of CBT that emphasises identifying and disputing irrational beliefs to foster emotional well-being.
My Services
At my practice, I offer a range of specialised services designed to support your mental and emotional well-being as you manage your health condition. My main services include individual therapy, which is the most commonly chosen option for personalised care, as well as self-paced digital programmes for those interested in learning how to use psychological techniques to manage their health condition and improve their mental wellbeing in a more affordable and convenient way.
Individual Therapy
My individual therapy sessions offer a confidential and personalised space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours related to your health condition(s). Using evidence-based approaches tailored to your specific needs, we work together to overcome challenges, build resilience, and promote personal growth. Whether you’re managing a health condition, coping with stress, or seeking self-improvement, individual therapy provides the support and tools needed for meaningful change.
Self-paced Digital Programmes
My self-paced digital programs will soon offer an affordable, flexible way for individuals managing physical health conditions to learn practical strategies for improving their psychological well-being. Each pre-recorded course—covering topics like mindfulness for long-term health conditions and using ACT to cope with physical challenges—will be packed with evidence-based techniques to help you thrive despite your symptoms.
These programs are currently in development, but if you’d like to be one of the first to know when they launch, I invite you to add your name to the waiting list. By joining, you’ll receive early access and exclusive introductory pricing when the courses become available.
